January is a Wild Ride

Happy Sunday!

Here's a quick update on the economy and stock market: The S&P 500 had a solid week, rising 1.74% and reaching a record high on Friday.

According to WSJ, investors are optimistic about potential deregulation and support for dealmaking under the new administration, contributing to the market's positive performance.

Looking ahead, major tech companies like Apple, Microsoft, Meta Platforms, and Tesla are set to report earnings this week, which I expect will have some ups and downs. My theory, is Apple will have weaker than expected sales in China, Meta’s CapEx spending is wicked high and may need to be justified, and Tesla could have a drop in topline sales and margins from a difficult 2024. Tesla is having major competition in China from Nio and Byd, and with Cybertruck sales slumping, the future sales projections are in question. However, the Model Y refresh is hitting soon! I expect Elon to focus on the Model Y refresh, the future taxi service (autonomous driving) and Energy Storage as the shining stars.

The family and I are headed to Disneyworld this week, so my newsletter will be on pause for two weeks. Big “thanks” goes out to Ruben for giving me all the Disney pointers. Don’t be a stranger if you see me at Disney!

Thanks,

Brian
