The S&P 500 gave up 0.5% this week, the Dow slipped 0.3%, and the Nasdaq barely budged as trade‑talk jitters linger. The U.S. added 177,000 jobs in April—beating forecasts and keeping unemployment at 4.2%—so hiring’s still doing laps around expectations, and keeping the Fed tight lipped. Looking ahead, Cisco, JD.com, and Alibaba kick off earnings this week—brace for a few plot twists from the Chinese companies. Tariff trade talks between the US and China are supposedly happening this weekend. Possible good news on Monday? Bonus quirk: gold’s been quietly tacking on gains, up 1.1% this week—so if you’ve got a pirate complex, now’s your moment. I’m surprised that I made my first video on Gold on December 2023, and it didn’t get many views. And now Gold is up 50% since then.
